DEW PD Ballistic Door Panels offer three different levels of protection: Levels IIIA, III+ and IV+
It is important to note that our level III+ and IV+ are tested to NIJ and beyond, as the "+" indicates. All of our solutions are independent lab third party tested using the NIJ protocols. In addition to the standard NIJ requirements, our panels undergo "conditioning" prior to testing. This means that they are subjected to extreme temperature cycling as well as timed water submersion before being shot.
Level IIIA
The NIJ level IIIA is tested in accordance with the NIJ standard.
Level III+
For level III+, we have designed our armor to defeat the NIJ level III round as well as the three additional rounds required by the LAPD. It is important to note that a claim to be NIJ level III does not mean that all the LAPD specified rounds are automatically included. The popular M855 and M193 are often left out.
Level IV+
For level IV, we have again gone above and beyond the standard NIJ level IV which is a single shot test requirement. We use the NIJ protocol with a five-shot pattern. We have also tested additional rounds that were felt by international law enforcement agencies to be up and coming threats.
